Heidleberg Dipco 3 colour Bars

We have recently invested in a new Heidleberg XL 105 press with image control.

I am having a few issues with making the very specific Colour Bars work so that the image control unit recognises them.

I am using a Kodak Prinergy workflow with Preps for imposing.

Is anyone else with the same/similar setup having any success with using Heildleberg image control?

Any help/thoughts would be much appreciated.

Karl

Hello Karl,

What problems are you having? There should be no issues with the bars when properly placed and formatted. You can feel free to contact me directly if you want to.

Karl,
on the CD of DIPCO, you will find PDF document in folder 01, which describes proper positioning on the sheet. Please mind, that you need to position 102_105 format of color bar. I know, that Preps is offering kind of step&repeat mode for color bars, which is not OK for ImageControl. In the center of color bar, you will see triangle, this has to be positioned in the middle (left to right) of the sheet, still leaving 6mm or more space on left and right, for system to recognise paper white.

Hi Karl

We have the same workflow, a XL105-6+ImageControl sw 5.0 + Prinergy 4.1 and Preps/Pandora using dipco 3

At installation, we made some mistakes with "3, 4+ all spot colors jobs using Prinect 6+ bars.
But now, all is solved.

On the DIPCO CD, you will also find other marks, like MiniSpot marks, which enable you to monitor not only limited variety of patches, contained in colorbars. You can position MiniSpots wherever you have place on printing sheet. Using ImageControl option ColorInterface, you can do extensive analysis of results and compare results with standards, you want to achieve. Using this option, you can export results for further processing like ICC profiling and process calibration.
Have a look at following page: Heidelberg - Color and Quality. There are not many other producers on the market, which put so much information on their web site...
BTW: did you know, that after positioning of MiniSpots and colorbars, Prinect Signa station can forward electronic information about marks usage towards ImageControl, which can automatically recognise them and use as mentioned earlier?

Regards, Janez
