Help with Roller from GTO52

Dose anyone know what this roller is for, i have 2 which came with the GTO52 1986 which we have just got,
but i can not remember having one of these on the GTO i ran in the past any pointer would be welcome Thanks

Looks like a dampener form roller.

Yeah. That is the water form roller.

The rubber at the edge rides on the plate bearer.

Thanks for all the info, now got to work out how it all works as i have never run a bareback roller on a GTO, hopefully the setting are the same as the conventional config as that all i have run in the past
