• Best Wishes to all for a Wonderful, Joyous & Beautiful Holiday Season, and a Joyful New Year!

How do I intergrate GMG ink optimisation software into my Prinergy workflow?

This summer, ColorFlow Software will be released, and at the end of the summer the Ink Optimization option for ColorFlow will be available. ColorFlow software is fully integrated with Prinergy and allows a fully automatic color managed workflow.

The ink optimisation software will available with ColorFlow but it is a chargeable option! At present I haven't seen the option price but I'd expect it to compete with Alwan and GMG

GMG Ink Optimiser is very good you can't see nay visible difference if you run a proof of an optimised and un-optimised file. Alwan is also good and you can squeeze slightly more savings out of that.
Also don't forget you'll need a GMG annual software maintenance contract for the software which is 12% of the purchase price, where Alwan/CGS don't charge this.
Get files converted from all the software, run them on the press and make a choice..

Thanks Gordo & everyone, I will be taking a lok at your blog Gordo & post any questions i might have to you direct or through this thread.

Thanks again.

as an alternative....

Hi, Karl -

we were the original GMG distributor in the US. we also looked hard at Alwan. In the end, we came away unimpressed with any GCR-type application.....for many reasons.

We have chosen another route that we are in the process of launching.
What would you say if you could actually experience an AVERAGE of 20%+ ink savings while also expanding the printable gamut by 20%.....if you wanted to....?

Our web customers are saving over 30% ink while establishing a much more stable print process. Our sheet customers are saving over 20% on average. We have an application that addresses the shortfalls of the printing process. As a result, we save ink and increase gamut.

if you would like to know more, please ping me offline.
Thanks,
Ian

To Ian,

You are making some strong claims that I'm sure many people on this forum would like to know more about. Could you explain what deficiencies you saw in the existing solutions?
Your website Chromaticity | Home does not appear to have any info for offset print application - just inkjet. Could you tell us more about your solution for offset?

thx, gordon p

Gordon -

Fair point. I apologize for being so cryptic. I want to be careful about being too commercial.

We have formed a very close partnership with a compnay called Fine Eye Color Solutions. Their CEO was one of the original guys from Adobe. They have an innovative technology that has re-invented how separations are handled - one of the ONLY elements of print production that has been static for over a century. This is a Mac-based server, PDF in/PDF out, hot folder-based, integrates with every workflow easily, does not change naming conventions......

we "vetted" this technology for months at a $75M web shop, $18M sheet shop, and at a cold-set web shop. You process files before sending to CTP RIP, make plates, mount on press......goose densities (with AM or FM screens) and watch the pressman's jaw hit the floor. This is not GCR, UCR or anything like it. We are launching this at the IPA conference in June. We have 10 customers currently but we are being rather quiet about this. We are seeing:

- 20% wider gamuts (measured by Colorthink)
- faster make readies
- more stable printing
-......and 25% less ink used on AVERAGE

BUT.....it is also:

- is colorometric (sp?)
- maintains tonality
- maintains grey balance of G7

AND.....unlike GMG, CGS, Alwan.....this also works on wide format inkjet and digital printing....!!!....the markets that are still growing.
