hp 5500 issues

My company installed a HP 5500 a few months ago. We have had nothing but on going electrical problems with this machine since the install. My former company had one and we had similar situations. HP Tech support "assists" my operator in getting around issues however we have had no concrete solutions from the HP side.

The main issues we are having are LAN connections dropping out and having to bypass sytems upon startup in order to get the press to come up and "run". Add that to the daily routine maintence, bids, blankets, pips ect and we have a press that runs at about 50-60% capacity, at best.

My question....has anyone had similar issues that they have solved or is this something I will have to schedule around for the duration of this machines operational life.

The operational up time is a huge negative in my eyes in regards to making customer commitments for "rush" work. My operator is "green" but seems to have a firm grasp on the machines trouble shooting and maintenace.

Any input is welcome

Your lan connections are something that you are going to have to resolve between your IT person and HP. We have found the best thing to do is to try and run everything the same size. If you run 12x18 then switch to 13x19 chances are you will be changing blankets. As your operator gets better your down time will be less. We went from 2000 to a 3050 and then traded both of them in for a 5500. Our operator went through the assisted maintenance training and we have very little down time. Usually a bid can be fixed to work till a job is over in order to get it done correctly. Corona wire replacements can take awhile so our operator somehow came across a spare set of all three housings so when one breaks he can slide a spare in and fix the broken one at his leisure. How experienced is your operator or is he or she new to this machine?
