Illustrator to ?????? to padprint

Hi all,
I designed a watch dial on illustrator that needs to be printed at 25x25mm. It's one color (black), no raster effects (all vector) and I'm having difficulty printing a crisp image. I'm using an HP Laserjet P1505 (1200dpi) printer in hopes of printing onto a piece of translucent polymer so I can create a plate for pad printing.

After printing a few tests on regular paper, I'm thinking I might have to purchase an image setter or higher quality laser printer.

I'd rather not send my design off to get laser plates created, can anyone offer a solution?

Thanks!

We produce films for the pad print market. While it is possible to to use a laser or ink jet printer to produce a 'film' the quality will never compare to a real piece of photographic film that was exposed in an imagesetter. Even the laser plates that I have seen are not as sharp and crisp as a film produced plate. Send me the art file and I can produce a film for you that you can use to produce a polymer plate.
