We've been using an HP 5000 for imaging smartplates by Hurst. I just can't seem get halftones suitable. I have exhausted the Hurst customer service folks! I guess the question is, "Is it necessary to create a halftone from an image before placing it in a document in InDesign or Pagemaker?
I have adjusted LPI's and stared at little dots until I'm ready to scream! The problem is not only the quality of the image, which varies, but amount of impressions. The plates just don't seem to last.
My pressman just can't seem to get it, and of course, since they "have been printing" 30+ years, it's all my fault!
Maybe so. Any one else been though these growing pains with CTP?
Thanks!
