InDesign Overlay Feature

I have a customer that made a glow effect in InDesign and applied the Overlay function to it. Looks great on the screen but goes away when a pdf is made. Does anyone no how to make the Overlay feature come out on a pdf??

We figured it out. The glow was a PMS color. We turned it in to a process color and it worked. Very weird.

Not really weird, you cannot output blends across different colour spaces
