InDesign to Quark Conversion...Help?

Hi all,

I have an InDesign file I need to convert to Quark. I know Markzware makes a plugin for this but I can't justify the $200 they want to do this single conversion.

Does anyone have this plugin and would be willing to convert a file for me (or other solution)?

Please email me off forum at jmorgan <at> hopkinsprinting <dot> com

Thanks so much,
Jon :)

You dont have indesign so cant open the job? Do you need to make changes to the file or just want to prep for press? If you dont need to make changes, just make a pdf file with bleeds and place in Quark.

Perhaps download the free trial version of InDesign. That will get you 30 days to use.

And out of the few features Quark has and InDesign doesn't, which one can't you find as a free script?

If its not to complex I would just copy and paste the text into Quark, then place any images. Any other solution is probably going to cost some money and probably wont be the most reliable conversation as your going the opposite way most people are going ie quark to indesign.

Hi wonderings,

In this case, you hit why I need to do the conversion on the head. No text...all vector-based artwork drawn natively in InDesign that will need modified from time to time after the conversion.

Thanks,
Jon

In that case, Jon, might be worthwhile to export to PDF from ID, then open in Illustrator, edit as needed, then save as EPS to place in Quark. Or, you could try skipping the first step and just copy and paste from ID to Illy if the artwork isn't too complex.

ID2Q - InDesign to Quark Conversion Service

ID2Q - InDesign to Quark Conversion Service

I'm a bit late to the party this time, but for the future, Markzware also offers a "pay per page" InDesign to Quark conversion service, in addition to ID2Q. If you email me on sales A-T markzware D-o-T com I can get you the pricing.
Here is more info on ID2Q, as if you have more than a few documents to convert, really pays for itself:

ID2Q v4 (InDesign To Quark) | Markzware

DCurry - the artwork needs to be native to Quark, not a placed EPS.

pcmodem - to serve my Quark customers. I have the document for my InDesign customers.

David - thanks.

Thanks,
Jon

I just don't get it. This doesn't make sense. Why can't you just export out of Indesign as an eps file? Then place into Quark, or copy and paste the paths into Quark. It is completely ass backwards to edit vector art in either program that im dumbfounded, yes you can do it - but why? just put it in illustrator. Maybe a little more detail as to specifically why you are needing this would help.

I must say this is a real head scratcher...

If you have InDesign why do you need to edit it in Quark? Are you trying to provide your customer with a native, editable Quark doc?

That is the only possible reason that I can come up with...

Is that it?

Pacart - I didn't realize you could copy/paste paths between InDesign and Quark??? I will give that a try.

bprint_tampabay - yes, I am providing a file to my customers that they would edit.

Someone emailed me off forum and converted the file for me with ID2Q and I have what I need now.

I apologize for the confusion but I didn't anticipate there being any as I just wanted a single InDesign file converted to QuarkXPress.....@$$ backwards or not ;-)

Thanks everyone!
Jon :)
