Heey fellas, i new in this forum, soo good :)

I work on a Zirkon 66-3 Web Offet and last week we need to renew some ink blades and I see that ink blades are not segmented and nowadays i think segmented ink blades is best for a high quality color control. Someone have an issue about this change? I really want to put segmented ink blades in the machine. Thanks for attention.

There is a company in Finland that specializes with these kind of ink blades. They make blades with very thin laser cuts.

I am sure they will be happy to give you a quote. They are not cheap.

Good luck.

Thanks for attention Erik, i just contacted Heikki now :)

Do you know someone who changed traditional ink blades for segmented? I think this is a simple change, no? =)

I do not know of anyone who has changed their blades. I would expect that if you are able to take your blade out yourself and put it back properly, going to a segmented blade should not be such a problem.

There must be care in where the cuts are made. They must be exactly between the point where the actuator pushes them up. If the cuts are not correctly located, the blade will probably twist.

If you are lucky, your blade might have been one that Vaslatek has already made.

I just found another site in Finland that deals with segmented blades.

The segmented ink blade – colour control of high quality

I guess this is because of an interest in laser cutting in Finland and not particularly any interest in printing technology.

Maybe some others on the forum can provide some comments on their experience replacing their existing blades with segmented blades.

Yesterday i found Welas on google and contacted too and they just reply me now telling me is a simple change and asking for details for prices. I asked the Zirkon engineer about this change too.
Now i waiting for Veslatek and searching for someone in my region (Brazil) that changed their blades for see the results of change 'cause i will spend some money on it.

Finland have some industry with strong knowledge in laser cut :)

Thanks for attention again Erik, when i decided about it i tell you!

I changed to a laser slit fountain on our GTO a few years ago. I carefully centered the blade and that was it. The company included lapping compound to 'run' the blade in and so far it's been great. Wish I the levers but that was almost 10x the amount. The lapping compound gently matches the two surfaces to each other. My blade has a seal on the back of the blade to contain ink and other things. It's between the cuts and is flexible. Good luck!
