Ink Savings

OK, here's the dilemma, we want to employ Alwan for the purpose of attaining ink savings. However the "budget" at the moment won't allow our prepress dept. to purchase this program. Is there a possible
or cheaper way of employing something we already have to use a GCR method to achieve something
with similar results. We are using Prinergy Workshop with Kodak Matchprint and Profile Wizard for proofing etc. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have the ability to generate ICC or device link profiles with heavier GCR? If so, you could try that. Or employ a consultant/profiling service to do so for you. A single profile would not be as dynamic as Alwan, but could offer ink saving benefits. I do smell a post forth coming from Louis of TGLC though. ;)

Hi Mike!

You were right!

It is very simple to use ICC devicelink profile directly onto Prinergy without having to go out on external server.
You go on your process plan, Color Setup > select the device link. That is so simple.

To create ICC device link profiel, you need a specialized software to do so.
PerfX Device Link Proâ„¢ is the right tool to create CMYK to CMYK and RGB to CMYK ICC devicelink profiles.
