KBA Coater trouble.

Hello.

Recently, my employers installed a 1999 KBA Rapida 104 that was transferred out of one of it's other facilities. The press is now in a full Heidelberg shop and no one, including myself knew anything about it. ( I have 30+ years experience as a pressman, but never saw a KBA or a K&B) Anyway, we have it up and running but are stil having a lot of issues with the coating tower. It's a 3 roller configuration consisting of a rubber roller, a small chrome roller and a huge applicator roller. The trouble we are having is that we can't seem to get it set correctly, it will either sling coating everywhere, or it will not put enough coating down onto the blanket and the sheets will wrap up into the unit. It's a frustrating mess!

I hope to hear from some of you KBA pros. Thanks!

Lew

I ran an MOFL that loved to sling coating. It took a while to find the problem but when the problem was finally addressed we no longer had the issue. Turns out the problem was the inexperienced night guy didn't know his head from his ass when setting up a spot coat and incorrectly turned the applicator pressure in the wrong direction.

Probably not the problem you're having but I just felt like saying that because that guy was an idiot altogether and his story of incompetence deserves to be told.

Greetings,
