Hi all,
I am facing a strage issue with my KM 3080,
setting the front and back registration on a banner paper of 74cm I have both sides skewed by 5mm.
Speaking with the tech guy seems not to be an option to solve it.
May I ask you if someone faced this problem and how it fixed it?
Thanks a lot.

If you have the IQ-501, you can adjust it automatically with this process. If you don't have the IQ-501, then you can adjust it manually with the document scanner by following this process.
Hi, thanks a lot I am aware of methods to adjust it. But the real problem is that the difference is out of action range.
So none of the procedure you mentioned fixe the problem. They help. they reduce the difference but…
I am not sure that a IQ-501 would solve this.

On the Xerox Versant you can manually adjust the alignment when it's gone too far out for the onboard settings to compensate.
By pulling out the main paper path assembly and there is a screw you can loosen and swing the alignment section. Obviously this will throw all other saved alignments unless accurately returned.

Not sure if the 3080 has similar. Maybe others can confirm.

Gotcha. Then it is down to an internal mechanical fix. Two options that I'd pursue:
  1. Speak to the service manager and ask for a specialist or different tech to come look at your machine since your current tech doesn't know how to do it.
  2. Run the job one side at a time and adjust the file manually on the 2nd pass.

But the print will still be skewed on the page, bit of a nightmare for accurate trimming.

An alternative I've used in the past (can't remember why) is to lay the pdf with trim marks out in indesign on the full sheet size and skew it in the file to counter the machine.
Bit of trial and error but works.

This is exactly what I was referring to when I said adjust the file (I probably should have explained more thoroughly as you did here). I usually have to find a happy medium if I can’t get it perfect…split the difference to where it’s acceptable when cut down.

Our C750 does this too. I think expecting a 30" sheet to not skew on a copy machine is honestly expecting more than the machine is capable of, but maybe I'm a cynic.
