KM c6000 v. Canon ip 6000

We started a small in house printing operation for our marketing company a couple of years ago with a canon c1+. We run mostly 11 x 17 - 13 x19 flats, occasionally duplex and almost always full coverage on gloss coated on 100# text for posters and 80# cover for handbills.

The C1+ proved to be too slow, and not robust enough for our duty cycle. We then moved to an IR 7055, but that had significant problems with being able to duplex our gloss coated stock and both machines were using more toner than Canon had anticipated in their services agreements, so we were being force into a la carte purchases on top of clicks.

We're looking to solve all of these problems with an other new solution and canon has brought us the ip 6000 and KM suggests the bizhub c6000. Anyone have experience with either? Is this truly an apples to apples comparison? Canon claims that the KM machine is not truly "production quality".

Any advice would be appreciated.

The last time I looked at KM output, there was ghosting around text, and you couldn't UV coat the sheets because of all the wax in their toner.

I had two Canon C1's and after canon got tired of visiting our shop weekly to work on them, they upgraded us to a 7000vp. The print speed makes us laugh. What used to take 6 hours now takes about 30 minutes. The front/back duplexing is amazing, and how precisely it puts the image on the page floors us.

You know what it's like with the C1's.... the image bounce from page to page is awful. With the 7000, bounce has virtually disappeared. We routinely split 1pt crop mark lines in half. It's amazing what this machine does.

The print speed wasn't really an issue to us because we mainly do VERY short run work, but the reliability and image shifting was frustrating. It was also aggravating that we couldn't duplex. Those problems completely went away with the 7000, and the crazy speed is just a bonus.

Canon tried to get us to pick a C6000 but after we bristled, they "found a way" to get us into a 7000vp.

We still see our techs every 2-3 weeks, but it's for minor maintenance/image quality issues, not because fuser assemblies have to be replaced, or because belts or drums have gone bad.

You'll absolutely love the upgrade.
