Konica bizHub 1200 Configuration

The institution I work at is looking at getting a Konica Minolta 1200 for doing a majority of the print we produce. The salesman who we're dealing with has just told us that there's no way to get the Stacker on this unit and have the saddle stitcher and staple finisher on the end. Anyone know anything more about this or have any personal experience? Help is much appreciated, thanks :)

That does seem a bit unusual but a restriction might be in place for some odd reason. This shot is from the konica image library.

Assuming this isn't a "typo" then what you want should be possible. Although this does have a perfect binder on the end , I would say any finisher could be attached. Some photos show up to 5 accessories attached (1050 was restricted to 3).

I have a product configuration tool at work. I will have to check that and get back to you.

I have a bulletin that lists all configurations and one is called an LSF configuration; it's the stacker, saddle stitcher and the FS-521 (100 sheet staple finisher with 3000 sheet exit tray). PM me your email addy and I can send the config PDF.

I got a little clarification on what exactly the problem is. The configuration we're looking for is the main unit, relay unit, multi-fold punch unit with inserter, large capacity stacker, booklet maker and 100 sheet staple finisher. This configuration is the one that does not seem to be possible.

I looked at the Product and Sales Guide, and there are a LOT of configurations. But, unfortunately, the one you want isn't listed. Ignoring the main engine and the relay unit for the moment, the finishing options you want are the FD-503 (folding/punch unit), LS-505 (stacker), SD-506 (saddle stitch) and FS-521 (stapling finisher).

In the guide, Konica uses a letter abbreviation system to represent the available configurations -
the folding unit is D,
the stacker is L,
the saddle stitch is S,
the stapling finisher is F.

The closest matches to what you want are the LSF which Hemlock mentioned above (omits the folding unit); the DLS (omits the stapling finisher); and the DLF (omits the saddle stitch).

The only other thing I can suggest is having your sales rep go back to Konica's production product specialist . Maybe the system engineers know something that isn't in the published guides. Or maybe with enough demand, they'll add more configurations.

Just a thought, why would you want folding in line? It's much more productive off line.

Folding on this machine 100% efficent i.e the engine does not change speed. So unless most of your folding work is letter size, online folding makes some sense.

But my floor folder will letter fold at 40,000/hour. Plus it is far more versatile than inline.

Yep, but this will fold at engine speed, which you can't do any faster than engine speed if you get what I'm saying. So when it is out, finished product.

What about right angle, accordion and gate folds, perforating, scoring and slitting? The floor folder is far far more versatile and productive than the inline option. Not to mention what if he picks up a color box in the future and the output from that needs folded?

You own a kick arse folder.
