Konica C6501 keeps stopping on grayscale

Hi

I've had a c6501 for three months and as I find my way around it, increasingly impressed.
The only problem I cannot overcome is it prints colour quickly, even duplex, but greyscale SRA3 prints 7 sheets and stops for 10 seconds before restarting on high speed, and duplex 2 sheets before stopping. It took me nearly a day to print 2500 sheets duplex mono- please help.

I run it independently (no click charge), so I need support as and when. If anyone available in England SL6 postode, please contact me with rates.

Finally, I would like to thank Uber Tech for his excellent help booklet. - well done.

Hi Michael

It is on any stock, in this case 120 gm Sra3 uncoated, but it does it on all stocks including 150 gm silk sra3.

I haven't ventured into variable data yet.

Cheers

Hi Have you looked at the front screen when the delay happens?

I wonder if for some reason its having to recalibate itself, do you see any messages flash up during the delay - eg warming up/calibrating etc?

Do you have a Fiery RIP attached or something else.

We have a C6501 with a Fiery RIP and we have put through a large number of black only [naughty!] jobs on this machine and we haven't seen the delays you are experiencing.

I too would like to thank Uber Tech for the booklet, should be compulsory reading for Konica Engineers :)!

Thanks Kantblue

There are no screen messages ie: warming up , recalibrating etc, but it does seem like its recalibrating.

I forgot to add we are running a creo rip.

It also does this on colour, but strangely doesn't take so long to restart

Hi,

You say it does this with every B/W job, if this is the case then I would guess the only difference between us is the CREO rip?

If it only happens with specific jobs, then it could be something in the job itself that's causing the delay.

I don't know the CREO rip at all, but I wonder if there is setting that can be tweaked or turned off in some way.

When we use the Fiery here, we tick the 'Print as greyscale' box in the print driver, even if the document is already B/W - might be something similar in the CREO driver?
