We are on our 4th.....yes 4th GBC unit for our KM C7000.

We seem to be unable to get past 30k-40k clicks before complete system jamming. Last failure took 4 days to diagnose and it was a drive cable.

Does anyone have good success with these units?

Can anyone recommend a replacement for my KM for a reliable GBC solution?

Thanks

Is that the GBC GP-501 punch unit? We don't have one on our C8000, but we have 2 of them on our KM 1200 black and whites. We run the heck out of them.
Between the two of them we have probably run about 5-6 million punches. We've had a couple problems with them, but the tech had new parts put in within a couple days each time.

Yes the GP-501

I don't know why our tech are having such a hard time

Do you know what kind of maintenance your techs are doing?

GBC makes these units for all of the copier companies, the dies wear out and have to be constantly cleaned and lubricated. There is a new long life dieset that is available but very pricey. Good luck finding a heavy duty inline punch for a copier that isn't made by GBC.

When we had a GBC punch on a monochrome Ricoh it left with 12 million punches. GBC actually had to come here to modify the motor and some control boards to get it to work properly.

Our tech blows out the unit with shop air once in a while and lubes up the dies every month or so. That's about all for maintenance they do on the punch units here.
We've replaced one of the dies so far. (Our sales rep said they were good for about 2mil punches when we got the machines).
