KONICA MINOLTA CONTROLLER IC-607

Hi Guys, quick question. I wanted to know people thought on the KONICA MINOLTA CONTROLLER IC-607 over a Fiery controller?

Wondering how it compares to a Fiery and how easy it is to use? Is there also any benefits over the fiery if we went with this RIP for a 4065?

TIA

We have the IC-609 on our C4080 and it's the only regret regarding the machine
  • Love the C4080 in terms of output quality and substrate handling but hate the IC-609 with a passion.
  • Almost five years on and we still have unresolved transparency and font issues where we have to print direct to the driver instead of the RIP
  • Our dealer hasn't got anywhere with KM with regards to resolving this.
  • Most of what we print is work designed in-house, so we know what it should look like, however where this is a serious problem is with PDFs provided by customers, to the degree now that any of those jobs get printed to the driver by default, as we simply can't trust what the KM IC-609 RIP will do with them.
  • There are other issues with the IC-609 in how it sends jobs to the engine, the RIP doesn't have sufficient memory IMHO, either that or ours is incorrectly configured. If we print say 1,000 copies of a page, it gets drip fed to the engine 1 page at a time, so the engine can't calculate the time remaining for the job, like it does on our B/W Pro951
In summary, avoid the KM OEM controllers at all costs and get the Fiery instead.

If anyone from KM is reading this, please drop me a PM or speak to IBS as your ongoing disinterest as a company in resolving our problems has left a bitter taste. Especially after you were so keen to feature us in the trade press as the first UK installation of a C4080, it seems we're now dead to you as we bought the machine outright as opposed to leasing.
