Looking for VDP solution for HP Indigo WS2000

Hi everyone,

We are looking to do more complex variable data printing (variable QR codes, specifically) on our HP Indigo WS2000 digital press. It came with YoursTruly Design which comes as a plug-in in Quark, but its capabilities are very limited. I don't think YTD is supported by HP anymore since the introduction of SmartStream.

Implementing SmartStream would be very costly, so we are looking at FusionPro Desktop as a less expensive alternative. I've gone through the demo and couldn't send my test job to the press. The test job had very basic artwork and only had 700 records. The FusionPro output to PDF was fine, but the JYLT output choked the rip.

I'd appreciate any insight, advice and recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Thanks Dan!

Our Indigo doesn't take multipage PDFs. I'm not sure if our WS2000 has that capability, so we've always outputted to JYLT for our VDP jobs. Is there a trick to getting it to recognize multipage PDFs?

I'm not the one here who runs the Indigo 5500, but I know we send it multipage PDFs all the time. Are you dropping the PDF into a hotfolder, or printing directly from the PDF to the Indigo? We do the latter.

If you are dropping PDFs into a hotfolder, I would look at the hotfolder settings to see if there is something set in a way that only prints the first page.

Hi Marion,

Frankly to say, variable QR-code is not special. many softwares can do it. Maybe we can do more by supporting QR-code in CMYK/spot color mode and Fill overprint if it is valuable to you.

By the way, on the point of my personal view, YTD and Samrtstream is more suitable for the variable jobs that need beautiful layout, such as personalized leaflets, DMs...which can make full use of ID's professional.

Our software have hundreds of Indigo presses user installation. We very understand the industry application. The only inconvenience is we are far away from you and can't support you on time. If you have real special requirement, please contact me offline.

Good luck.
