Malware strikes newspaper publisher, major papers affected

$10 bucks this was a run-of-the-mill ransomeware infection that just got news attention because it hit the printing plant producing all these newspapers.

The "The attack is believed to have come from outside the US" and "We believe the intention of the attack was to disable infrastructure, more specifically servers, as opposed to looking to steal information" line fits the bill of individuals who don't understand how automated and simple ransomware attacks are.

Highlights an important vulnerability for printers though - we take in foreign files all day every day to do our jobs. If one of those is malicious and you don't have the proper protections in place, you can be toast.

Anyone running "barefoot" (running their systems without up to date virus and malware protection, and, without proper security training) deserves to be toast.
