Mitsubishi 1F Delta Settings

We have a 1999 Mitsi 28" with delta units and for the life of us, we can figure out what the settings should be on the units. We called Mitsi and they said Delta made them. So we called Delta and they said for this year press, Mitsi made them!

They are set to 0.5% now. Can anyone tell me what that means?? Is that set to 0.5% faster than the speed of the press? Or is that 0.5% slower? We found some info that said we should be running them about 12%-15% slower than the press but we're not sure how to set that.

We are getting color bar marking on the tail of the sheet and a railroad track pattern on the sheet with the current setting of 0.5%.

Any ideas guys?

HI there,

delta dampers should always run slower than the press speed. If your getting streaks in the circumferential direction then check roller settings, on a speedmaster its 8 to 10mm to plate and six mm to steel (102). If its giving you hassle then set damping form speed to press speed e.g 0.0%.

On a Misti the delta has 2 settings. With Delta on the water form is at 92% of the plate speed. Off the water form turns at 97-98% of the plate speed. The percent you are talking about is a metering roller compensation for the lower water form speed. As the water form slows it applies less water to the plate, hence you need to compensate by increasing your dampening speeds. If you switch from off to on and it scums increase the number. Your problem probably has nothing to do with the delta system. Try turning it off and see if the problem goes away. Your gear on the water form might be shot or the idler gear that slows it down.
