I need to move our Galileo Platesetter about 5 feet. Does the carriage need to be locked or is there anything else that needs to be done OR, is this rocketscience and should I hire a tech to move

Push the Carriage in the middle of the drum, lock it with some pieces of foam.
Move it nice and gently as it made of crystall glass :)

If you also have a plate manager, move the picker all the way in Engine and disconnect the cables between the Engine and the plate Manager. Take the Cassettes out of Plate Manager. Plate Manager has wheels so it can be pushed forward easily. Also follow the Locking process in the service manual. It is also a Rocketscience when it comes to moving, leveling and alignment of the Galileo system. Hire a professional Tech to move this state-of-art Equipment no matter if you will move it 5 feet or 500 feet and have a piece of mind for proper operation of the machine for the future production. A Tech who has moved Galileos can level and align the machine properly and within the manufacturing instructions.Proper leveling and alignment of this piece of equipment will effect the quality of the plates and shouldn't be considered as an easy task. Good Luck with the pushing, pulling, leveling and the Alignment.

There was NO locking procedure for the Laser Carriage - it has to be removed using special Crane assembly. Sure, after that you will need a specialist to put the Carriage back and to recalibrate the Galileo.
In case you have a Manual plate load table only, you could save some money gently locking the Carriage and gently moving the Galileo.
