Need a lesson on trimming

We are a small independent publisher that has just recently begun printing and binding in-house for perfect bind. We love what we are able to do, except that when we trim the spine we get a slight wrinkling of the cover near the cut of the head and foot of the spine. This doesn't happen 100% of the time, but enough to waste a lot of books. We have an MBM Triumph 4350 cutter. We are new to all this, so may struggle with the lingo a bit. Thanks for the help anyone can provide.
