New Fujifilm JetPress 720 anyone?

I recently heard about Fujifilm's Jetpress 720. It appears to be a B2 (720x550mm) size offset sheetfed press. This is the first digital "press" I've truly been excited about. However I'm only basing this off information gathered via YouTube and other press releases for the product.

I'm curious if anyone has actually seen this product in action or has information about it's true capabilities. I'm interested in what Fuji is touting for cost per piece and what types of substrates it's capable of printing on. If anyone has additional information on this product or have seen real-world samples from the equipment I would be interested in hearing about it.

I've been exploring short run full color printing options for quite some time and was almost set on a DI press, I'm looking for run lengths of 500 to 2000 sheets. We're currently using a Xerox digital press to produce most of this work but would like to make the jump to something to compete on runs up to 10,000 impressions. I was disappointed in the format size of the DI press and many people seem to think it's a dead arena with lots of problems.

If its the same machine im thinking of. it has a maximum speed of about 3000 an hour and it costs about £700,000. so i think youd better buy a 4 year old ten colour for that price instead lol

The Jetpress was in action at IPEX, as was our (Screen) B2 sheetfed inkjet offering.

At the moment these machines can appear quite expensive, but make no mistake this technology will replace offset.

Have you seen the Xerox Color press 800/100? It has a smaller sheet size (330mmx488mm) but the imaging is amazing especially using the clear toner to highlight.

At First glance the price can look Very Expensive, and Productivity seems Quite Low.
I doubt this will Replace offset in the next 30 Yrs.

a very brave printer to embrace this

We had a look at both presses, the idea that this tech would replace our grimy litho thechnology is tantalising to say the least, but we looked at the costs and couldnt justify spending all that money on such a limited press.

i think litho will still be king for a good while, becuase if you invest in a press like this you're competing against a million other digi users (that will be more competitive) because their equipemtn cost if much lower. There will be the occassional jobs that are perfect for these presses, but not enough to warrant the crazy price.

The price of this kit needs to drop to around £250K, at the moment the price is way too high to make a dent in either litho or digitals market.
