Offset paper

Hello, Everyone

Has anyone have issues with press paper lately? We are experiencing some movement on press which causes registration problems. We get pallets of paper and they are wavy. We tried different types of paper with the same problem. Our sales rep says that the paper comes from China. We have a job on press with dot gain up 5% to 7% tvi which is off spec to our standard . We tried high quality to test out and the gain we to our house standard, the paper is very expensive!

hi there,

sorry to pick you up on this did you say 5-7 tvi on offset ? i assume you mean 5-7 above house standards for typical offset gain values. If so and your suffering with tight edges or loose edges with paper then its probably a sheet distortion issue due to the acclimatisation of the stock and not being adequate for temp/. humidity changes. In the uk were mason biggest offset user currently using 400 k 70 and 90 gsm of aok offset a month. Occasionally if we ship in an order (non standard sizes) and it hasn`t sat at the docks for a few weeks then the pallets look like sh*t, all edges curling down and they feed badly, after a month in our climate the stock looks as bad but when through the press once is back to origional dimensions plus flat and ready for backup.

not much help for you but i know how you feel ive seen tvi up to 40% on k unit with linear plates.
