Prep 5.1 won't recognize new custom eps marks

I have created some new marks and saved as .eps from Illustrator as a version 10 eps. I also saved it as a pdf but this is probably not necessary given our Rampage workflow. I added the mark with Setup, add custom mark. When I go to place the new mark, I see it in the folder but it is grayed out. Is there something that I am missing here? The marks Preps came with and some Rampage supplied marks work fine.

I would try to save the mark as an earlier version (say 3,5,or 8) - see if that works for you?
PDF marks are needed if you are using JDF workflow in rampage.
