ROLE DESCRIPTION
The role of the Imposition/Platemaking Technician is to digitally assemble final approved graphic files into a press-ready print form for offset printing following the instructions provided on the production ticket. In addition, a responsibility of this position is quality checking that the layout imposition, press marks, color separations, screen angles and curves have been applied correctly. This role will deliver an accurate finished product (offset printing plates) to the press. This role reports directly to the Prepress Manager but will also collaborate with Scheduling, Customer Service, and Production.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
•Completes assignments using Esko Automation Engine and Plato to create and modify plate impositions. Most layouts are generated through automated workflows, but some require manual creation and/or changes.
•Create press layouts for folding carton & labels, including multi-page print forms (i.e. calendars, catalogs) and other commercial work.
•Ensure that layouts have been setup to the correct number of colors per the production ticket.
•Quality check imposition for errors before proceeding to next department.
•Setup imposed files for Emboss/Deboss, Foil Stamp, & Spot Coating File and send to vendors.
•Output plates, using the correct settings, and put in corrugate folders.
•Reload plates into platemaking device.
•Daily, monthly and other periodic maintenance on the platemaking devices. (i.e. preventative maintenance)
•Review daily production schedules to ensure plates are output as needed.
•Maintain inventory of plates & supplies in the plating department and restock as needed.
•Unload and put away prepress plates and supplies.

KEY DELIVERABLES
•Plates and layouts are created correctly and do not require rework after QC.
•Pressroom has all the plates that are necessary for a job ahead of time.
•Takes own initiative to help out in other areas during light workload.
•Ability to back up in Prepress with file processing 1up files, utilizing Adobe Illustrator and/or Esko Deskpack software would be a bonus.
•Basic Understanding of Color Management / Plate Curves would be a bonus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
•Computer Knowledge – Desired: PC Platform, MS Office, Esko Automation Engine, Esko Plato
•Computer Knowledge – would be a bonus: Mac Platform, Esko Artpro, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Esko Deskpack Plugins, Fuji XMF
•Strong Computer & Technical Skills
•High attention to detail

QUALIFICATIONS -
•Prior Prepress/Plating experience working in printing/packaging industry and/or Associate Degree in Graphic Communications/Electronic Prepress, or similar field.

Prepress/Plating Operator - Castle Pierce
Castle Pierce is in growth mode and is seeking an experienced prepress/plating operator. This is a hands on position and is onsite.
