Problems with Pitstop/Acrobat 7

Ok, I'm going to try and make this as short and sweet as possible.....

Have a PDF that has 4 color black that I have converted to 100k to send back to a digital press. After converting and saving, I notice the file size of the PDF has pretty much doubled and upon sending it back to the digital press (I HATE digital presses BTW, so f'ing finicky) the black is STILL being laid down by all 4 colors. As if the changes were never made! (If this were being printed conventionally, this wouldn't be an issue)

The type looks like crap and it feels like braile. Even though all my numbers show 100K and no other plates. Not only that my 3 meg PDf is now a 6 or 8 meg PDF.

Now I consider myself very knowledgeable on these matters, but this stumping me!

Re: Problems with Pitstop/Acrobat 7

Hi Jason,
How was the conversion done? In Pitstop or Acrobat Prof? If in Acrobat, did you do actual color conversion or ink manager through alias? Be sure to check output preview for ink usage after conversion as well.

Could also be the Rendering Intent is an issue..

Re: Problems with Pitstop/Acrobat 7

Most definately a rendering issue. Are they printing from Acrobat? Is the black 100% black but tagged ICC? I would Untagg all 100% black objects so that they would be device K.

Re: Problems with Pitstop/Acrobat 7

Hi Jason,

The quickest way to get to the bottom of this is probably to just send your file to us ([email protected]) and have someone take a look at this. That should at least help us determine whether the problem is with the file or with the rest of the process after it has been color corrected.

Kind regards,
David.
