In this role, the successful candidate will design and oversee the development of new products. The Product Engineer will work closely with Sales, Product Development, Production, and Marketing teams to develop new products. The Product Engineer will be responsible for launching new products and product improvements that achieve cost, quality, and delivery targets.

The successful candidate must have two years experience developing products in a continuous process environment. Experience designing products related to adhesives, magnetics, and laminates is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Polymer, Ceramics, Materials, or Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
• Maintains active awareness of new technological developments in the field of materials and magnetics for potential integration into the company’s product lines.
• Analyzes current product offering and identifies opportunities for improvement.
• Utilize Magnum Tollgate and PIF processes to lead the design and launch of new products and improvements.
• Develops performance specifications for new products.
• Performs project justification, including savings and benefit analysis and return on investment.
• Performs product testing.
• Creates samples of new products for customers.
• Implements mistake-proofing concepts into product designs to prevent defects.
• Designs packaging for new products.
• Develops standard work and best practice for all aspects of position.
• Participates in and leads kaizen events.

Requirements:
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word).
• Self-motivated.
• Creativity.
• Understanding of printing processes (digital, flexo, inkjet, etc.).
• Organizational skills.
• Knowledge of magnetic sign manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of Lean or Toyota Production System.
• Experience designing with laminates (paper, vinyl, polypropylene).
• Experience designing with adhesives (solvent, water-based).
• Experience designing with magnetics.
• Able to read technical drawings and engineering specifications.
• Analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
• Experience testing products in a lab environment.
