proportionate scaling of effects in Indesign

Good Morning

A client posed a question to which I have no answer and would like your input, an object in Indesign with a drop shadow effect when scaled in Indesign the drop shadow will not scale proportionally in that the size of the drop shadow width will decrease as the image/text size increases.

Is there a way where you can avoid manually resetting the drop shadow width when scaling in Indesign - ( leaving aside the option to place as an eps and scale)

I have attached an example as a reference

thnak you in advance

regards
Maas

Hi Maas,

in InDesigns presets you can activate the option "Adjust scaling percentage" to scale Contours and transparency effects. Unfortunately drop shadows and some other effects do not seem to bother about this option. You can find more information about this problem on Scaling Effects | InDesignSecrets.

Gerald Singelmann is offering a script named scaleEffects.jsx that might be helpful. Use the second link in the main text of the page to download scaleEffects. Script and page are german: Waagerecht means horizontal, Senkrecht means vertical.

If you were forced to go this route, PDF would be a better option than EPS. EPS will force you to flatten transparencies, while with PDF you could keep them live.

One can rename the German to English Horizontal/Vertical in the script, it works fine! Thanks for the link Maas (it would be nice to have a live preview, but it's not a big deal).
