Reconditioned DC250, DC6060 or 5000 ! Which One ?

I have an option of buying either a Reconditioned DC250, DC6060 or a Xerox 5000 as a second machine to my DC2060.

The DC6060 is almost the same as the 2060 (Oil Based / Absolete technology) but reliable.

The DC250 offers very good print quality and comes at a good price. Not sure about the machine's service / relaibility.

The 5000 is a workhorse. Image quality almost same as DC250. Priced almost 3 times more.

Confused !! I really need suggestions !!

The advantage of the 250 is that its a different technology so it gives you the option of a different result / different option when you have problems etc

We currently run a DC5252 (same family as DC2060 and DC6060) and a DC250. I can honestly say I could not cope without either of them. The DC5252 is just a solid workhorse, which plods away to get the job done. The DC250 is not as production orientated as the DC5252 (ie, cannot duplex coated unless you lie and use the Heavyweight 1 setting), but the DC250 is a lot less picky which papers it will run. My DC250 will run litho papers all day without a problem, but the DC5252 needs digital papers to get the best out of it.

I am very pleased with both my Xerox machines (3 actually if you count the DC12). Having both the 'older' and 'newer' generation machines is very helpful if you have a problem running certain stocks.

That is the dilemma!

Considering the 6060 as it is a solid workhorse or the DC250 which is better technology but less of a production machine.
How would you compare your DC5252 and DC250 in terms of service backup and reliability ??

Sorry, probably not going to help you much again!!!

I would say that the DC5252 (or 6060) is the more reliable and consistent machine, but the DC250 has many user replaceable parts. When a drum goes bad on the DC250 we just put a new one in and we're back running in minutes, but the 5252 requires a tech visit for most things. Having said that, the 5252 has about the same number of visits as the 250 does, so I guess the 5252 is more reliable as we are replacing bits ourselves on the 250 - if that makes sense?

From a production point of view, the DC5252 wins hands down I suppose. Registration is much better, as is colour. I've just tried to run a magenta solid running to a fade on the 250, and it looked awful. Run the same job on the DC5252 and it looked perfect. It's nice having the 250 as it can give a more matt look without the fuser oil, but if it was purely down to reliablilty and colour quality, I'd pick my DC5252.
