Does anyone know what it means to 'postscript using ROOM technology?'

It means "Rip Once, Output Many".
This means that you RIP your file once to a raster format. Then you can output this to a proofer or platesetter an infinite amount of times and can be guaranteed that the integrity of the output will always be the same.
