Has anyone who has operated an Oliver/Sakurai 672 ever had an issue with the ink fountain roller occassionally stopping or stuttering? Any ideas how to prevent it from happening?

most ink ductors are pushed by a cam and pulled by a spring with a servo to lock out the ductor. check that the servo is adjusted and or working properly. you can usually pull a cover and see it work

is the ink fountain roller stopping or the ink ductor. It sounds like you are referring to the ink fountain roller(ink ball) stopping. This is usually controlled via a one way clutch with a racket system and can be mechanically or electrically driven. Some systems have a 'brake' on the end to prevent the roller from turning backwards, this could be binding or set too tight causing the ink ball to stop turning momentarily. Also check your ink ductor setting to the ink fountain as this can affect the smooth rotation of the cylinder. Sorry these are just generic suggestions as I am not familiar with your particular make of press. Good luck.
