Scanner that can read Kodak Sonora Xtra plates

We switched to Sonora Xtra plates and a few months ago. When we were using the Trillian plates we could use a scanner to verify the bar codes on the black plates. Now that we are on Sonora Xtra plates our scanner does not read them anymore. Is there a scanner that can read through the emulsion for lack of better words so we can verify correct barcodes on each job prior to it going to the press?

Another print shop near us had to go back to wet plates after switching to Sonora when they installed a Koenig & Bauer 105 press, the registration cameras on the press cannot read the targets on Sonora plates.

If you're using Sonora Xtra plates and struggling to scan barcodes through the emulsion, here’s what you can do:First, look into high-resolution barcode scanners with advanced features like infrared or adjustable light settings, which work better on reflective surfaces. These might resolve the issue. Additionally, review your imaging settings during plate production to ensure optimal contrast and barcode clarity. For specific recommendations, Kodak might offer compatible scanner options for these plates. Reach out to their support team or consult the PrintPlanet community for firsthand advice. Upgrading the scanner or tweaking your process should help verify barcodes before press runs.
