scheduling a daily morning print to wake up my printer (Ricoh C5310)?

I have two Ricoh C5310's in a kinda hybrid self-serve repro room in an office.

They take about 120 seconds to warm up from deep sleep, which is not a long time for a production run but annoying for people wanting a quick print.

I was thinking of scheduling a one page document to print every morning at 08:45 to wake them up automatically. Anyone have any suggestions on a simple way to do that?

Probably will have to be done at the workstation level with a script. You could schedule a print job to run every morning.

you might wanna try Automator App on a mac, just print a g7 calibration sheet at scheduled time.

Check out the "Weekly Timer Settings" under the "Timer" section on this page. It won't necessarily send a print, but it will wake up the printer automatically so it is in more of a ready state. We do the same thing for our Konica Minoltas. They all go to sleep at 5pm and auto wake up at 7:30am, Mon-Fri.

I haven't tried this, but I believe, if you have a Fiery Server, you can con figure it to print out a Job Log, at the date and time of your choosing. Set it to print every day at 8:15am.

The saying is you have to ACT like the customer is always right. Which they seldom actually are! And the printers are designed to do a specific job, and the buyer finds the printer that fits their schedule the best. You can want the printer to do certain functions, but if its not designed for that, it won't happen. No matter how much you complain to Ricoh, the printer won't wash your dishes, or vacuum your floors.

they have a 'suggestions forum' for their makeready package Total Flow Prep. i've given lots of feedback on there about how the software could be improved and have asked to speak to the product manager. i've heard nothing back whatsoever.

Thanks for this - printing the job log is not really an option because it would be leaving confidential data around on the printer.

thanks - i had misunderstood that previously to mean that you could only do one if you did the other, i.e. tell it to power off and then power back on the next morning. i'm going to try it now by telling it to wake up at set intervals throughout the day and see how it goes.

There is a way with Enfocus switch if you have it or if you know someone (or you still can find company who can make a workflow just for you). You trigger everyday a BW single page on a hotfolder and your Ricoh is good to go !
