Deluxe is currently seeking a Senior Manager Industrial Design Engineering.
This leadership position delivers superior product design and development of products in Small Business, Full Color-Commercial Print, Financial Services and Direct to Consumer portfolios.
Provides leadership and manages industrial design engineers, base form engineers, and product line engineers. This leadership position is responsible for perfect product quality and delivering excellence through fulfillment and supply chain.
Accountabilities:
- Provides strategic product fulfillment solutions for the product marketing enterprise and orchestrates the delivery of innovative and complex product capability solutions across Fulfillment.
- Partner with executive leadership, site leaders and fulfillment operations ensuring successful product development results. Responsible for the successful implementation of all product introductions and aftermarket product success.
- Lead and drive engineering innovation in product solutions, with year over year cost savings improvements, through robust design for manufacturability, applying advanced methods and practices for engineered waste prevention/reduction, and constantly seeking out ways to improve our cost to produce / fulfill products.
- Lead and champion excellence across product development processes for strategic planning and initiatives management, multi-faceted testing for reliability, complex analysis, advanced technical capability maximization, product launch management, performance metrics, process discipline, product costing and related financial budgetary plans.
- Manage fulfillment roadmap commitments for product development, fulfillment initiatives, and engineering resource planning.
- Lead, orchestrate and communicate engineering outcomes to executive management in the delivery of business, financial, and quality objectives of Fulfillment.
- Lead product development engineering executive management reviews. Manage the product development engineering roadmap, initiatives, and financial milestone reviews.
- Prepare budgets, plan resources and projects to meet fulfillment and business partner objectives.
- Manages the continuous improvement practices and processes for talent development in engineers, process discipline, advanced engineering tools and application of complex engineering testing and analysis.
- Drive for a culture of compliance to the Lean Product Development Quality System. Key Interface with senior leaders in product marketing - partnering to deliver excellence in speed to market.
- Remains current on industry best practices for advanced lean product development and implements widespread practices to deliver robust, innovative, and cost effective product solutions.
Required:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in Engineering
- 10 years experience in fulfillment engineering
- 5 years technical leadership experience in product development, supply chain, operations, manufacturing, industrial product or quality engineering
Preferred:
- Exceptional business leader that can operate independently with discipline and diligence around product development process
Ability to research advanced fulfillment capabilities, apply complex financial cost benefit analysis, and proactively recommend advancements that deliver transformational business results
- Advanced background and proven accomplishments in one or more disciplines: lean product development engineering, product engineering, product development, process engineering, lean manufacturing/six sigma continual improvement techniques
- Specialized printing expertise in conventional and digital printing for full color, custom, commercial print and breadth of technical knowledge in W2P, Print on Demand, and related processes
- Widespread technical knowledge and ability to cross pollinate opportunities for conventional or digital printing in multiple channel applications across Small Business, Financial Services, and Direct to Consumer industries
- Lead a high performance engineering team to successfully achieve business commitments with high morale
Translate industry and technical trends into best practices towards engineering excellence
- Deep understanding in the application of advanced test methods for proven product design and manufacturability
- Ability to apply/translate complex statistical methods for experiment design and problem solving
Define and operate consistent planning and execution processes
- Ability to effectively manage multiple programs/projects and meet business requirements for successful implementation
Proven track record of complex problem solving and delivering business results
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, writing and presentation skills, in small and large groups.
