Evening All,

We're moving up to an 8colour SM52, from standard 4 colour straight press. I'm sure there are issues we haven't considered, and would like some advice re: problems we might face switching over to perfecting 4/4

Regards

Tim

I could never understand why some one would not just buy a sm74 - 4 and run worknturn. instead of going 4/4 on a 52.

KEEP YOUR CAMS GREASED!!!! Huge thing you must do !!! Grease perfector and all cams at least once a week especially if your running 12 hr shifts and around the clock.Keep transfer jackets clean and DO the cylinders AFTER EVERY SHIFT! 52 is a nice little press just keep up on the maint and it will serve you proud

My biggest concern would be perfecting on coated stock without a UV system in place . . . we run perfectors on GTOs and Speedmasters and just can't perfect on gloss coated at all . . . sometimes a matt stock runs fine

tricky

tricky

Can be tricky. The art dept must imposition jobs with proper gutters so you will not get marking. Eg the slowdowns in delivery. Some jobs will mark some will not. Check on specific inks for perfecting. No matter how good they say it is it still marks a bit. You will have to pick and choose what jobs you perfect and which you don't. We are getting a 10/c 40 inch Komori and we have alreagy decided on short runs stay in strait printing and maybe wall to wall ink coverage stay in straight. Other than that one pass and done. The key is when the trainer is working with you have those types of jobs lined up and get his feedback and tips!
