Hi...I have some troubles to make the linearization and profile of my offset machine to get the Proof Color on EFI ColorProof 3.1.8

Any can help me with some manual, step by step or specifications to check if I make something wrong or I forget one step to do this...???

Thanks for any help

Yo have to use LIN TOOL for that. Do you have "Create Media Profile" button in Lin tool or not? What paper and printer(s) do you use? Describe your level of knowledge with EFI CP. What spectro do you have?

Thanks for response..

Yes I have the LIN TOOL and the Create Media Profile...I use Proof Paper from Mitsubishi and is certificated by Fogra...I have the ES-1000 spectro.

Can you explain a little how to make or the steps to get a better Proof Color...my problem is that I make the profile paper and linearization then I create the profile from my press machine.. I get the ICC files... but after print the file in EFI ColorProof and in the press the Proof have more yellow that the press or more magenta depends of the work..I use the densitometer in the press to check the ink..so maybe I need more information how to make a better proof color..

Thanks..

In order to get the closest possible match to your press you need to optimize the paper profile to your press profile. Launch LinTool (or Color Manager, depending on your license) and choose "Optimize Profile". Select your spectro and the workflow you wish to optimize. A series of print/measure will start and after 3-5 measurements you should reach a point where you have an average dE of <0.8 and a maximum <3.2. This should be sufficient. Save the optimization curve (*.3cc) and if it is not done automaticaly, select it in your workflow (I don't remember exactly where, it is in the same tab where you choose your press profile, under "optimization file").

Hope it helps

Did u make the icc profile for your press? Did you use the same spectro? Is your spectro UV-Cut or not? What is the paper white of the Mitsubishi and what the paper u used on the press to make the profile?

Is everything too yellow? or just some colors, like just greens, or just blues?

I use Semi Mate Paper 170 grms in the plotter and for the press I use Couche Bright 150 grms, my spectro is UV-Cut and when I make the base linearization after that I make the profile with the ECI 2002 Random Chart and the the ICC from the press with the same ECI 2002 chart.

Then I put in the WorkFlow_Color_Color Management in simulation the ICC from my press and in Output Decives I choose the model of my plotter and the paper that I get from the base linearization.

After that I print in the plotter the same chart that I print in the press and get almost the same color like a 90% of similarity...but when I send another job to my plotter then I try to reproduce in press or is more yellow my proof or is more magenta.

Thanks..

You are saying that you printed ECI2002 on the press and measured with the same i1 pro? How many sheets did you measured? What software did you use to measure? Did you print this within known tolerances of Gracol, Fogra or whatever your pressman liked that day? Where are you located anyway?

You still did not tell me what LAB values your papers have.

Not..I Print the ECI2002 ont he press and I measured with a Densitometer for the ink density I check the C=1.50, Y=1.15,M=1.40,K=1.80. I print 1000 sheets and take the last 10 sheets and 10 for the middle..I check the density again and I choose with the better register and the most celan work..after that I read the sheet with the i1 in the efi colorproof and i get the ICC.. I am right..? and this ICC a selected from the Workflow in Color, Color Management,Simulation (No paper withe).

About Gracol Tolerance and Fogra..I hear about that...but don't have the idea exactly..or I don't now how to use the ColorVerifier tool in EFI...and if can help me with my proof..

Thanks ;)

How do you come to this conclusion, visiualy?? Measure your color managed print and compare it to the measurement from the press sheet (you can use Color Verifier, just launch it and load the txt/it8 files to the fields), to get the actual dEs.
Again I will mention the optimizer in XF. It would be ideal if we could have our paper profile, combine it with any reference profile and get an excellent proof every time, but this is not the case. Every rip software has it's own tool to fine tune paper-reference profiles combination. In XF it is called "Optimize profile" and it's located in the Lin Tool/Color Manager menu.
Question : didn't you get any kind of training from your dealer??

Thanks... About color Verifier its only to compare and get the dEs..or i can use this information to improve the proof color..? if is this the case, can you explain how works or the steps to use Color Verifier..thanks..:)

You are not doing something, except maybe for the rendering intent. When proofing I personally prefer Absolute colorimetric in order to get a cast and simulate the paper white of the actual print stock. But this is not mandatory. What I have been trying to say is that you haven't done a final adjustment (as I have already described) not that you have done something wrong.

You are not answering questions.

caveman asked you if you had ANY dealer training at all?

I asked you for LAB values of your paper on press and in epson and where are you located.

Sorry...

I located in Mexico. When I come to work to here..the guy who left the job, have the training and he go outs to another job, so I am new in this software...

To get the lab values is in Color Verifier right..I need to measure the ECI2002 from the epson plotter in the measure 1 and the ECI2002 from my press in measure 2..right..

let me do it..and I sendt it..

thanks..

Sistecopy -

I have 2 suggestions:

1, Ask your dealer in Mexico - TSG or Delta e Cero.
2. Go to our web site and take a class online that will teach you how to do what you want.

thanks Ian..for the info..

I see the page and I start to check the prices and what course is better to me..about TSG let me ask because we buy the EFI to them and muihc people says that the support is to poor.

I what to ask something, some people says that I need ProfileMaker software to make a better ICC and profiles...its true..

Thanks :)

ProfileMaker or EFI Color Manager is essential if you want to make profiles.

I dont know what course is best for you becuase i dont know what your issues are.
For $250 you can take ALL 90 of the courses for 4 months.

You have Color Manger if you have option "Create Media Profile" in LIN tool. Besides this Ian is right. You should pay for EFI support and ask them or take Chromaticity courses. You don't even know how to measure paper white point! There are also many consultants that charge ~$1,500 USD per day to setup color rips. Why not get one of them? If you still lack skills after dealer training or online training.

About measure white point..? it to complicate..? I believe that is the problem with my proofs..because the white of the background of bout papers (press ans plotter) its different.

You don't have a manual about this measure..? Later I search for this courses online..

Thanks..;)
