Mmmm. I see. Basically after reading the article:

(1) It's been on Sunday for 44 years --- "if it ain't broke..........don't fix it"
(2) Money for the local hospitality businesses. If the game doesn't get over til late Sunday night, people flying in will have to pay for another night at the hotel.
(3) 89.2 percent of all NFL games are played on Sunday.

If you have had to chance to see the new movie "Concussion" with Will Smith playing the part of Dr. Bennet Omalu, there's a line in that movie spoken by Dr. Omalu's boss as he was trying to impress upon him how disasterous this could be on his career by bringing this to light:

"You're going to war with a corporation that owns their own day of the week. Sunday's used to be owned by churches and religion. It doesn't anymore. Now, it's owned by the NFL....."

Good movie, it you get a chance you should see it.
