$24K for a prepress operator? I got hired for 20K back in 1997. Our economy is well and truly f**ked.
I had a prepress vendor company cold call me in for an interview a while back. Interview went great and then we started talking money and the HR person treated me like I was nuts. They told me the job paid less than what I was currently making with no added benefits and full-time travel. I responded that X is what I currently make plus Y incentives and Z is what it would take for me to even consider taking a job where I am away from home 5 nights a week. Good luck finding anyone who will take this position at that pay scale. They're response? They could easily hire fresh college graduates (bachelors degree) for less than what they offered me. How in the hell anyone could pay off student loans and manage to eat on that salary I cannot understand. How that person would be able to ever buy a car, home, attract a mate, etc. is even more baffling.
And these people wonder why my millennial generation have ZERO loyalty and bounce from job to job…..
