Transparency issues in Digital Printing

We have 2 700s, we always use Composite Overprint on the Fiery. Files are saved as PDFS (or supplied files) and just dropped into the Fiery. We dont print direct from an application, never have done. With this setting I dont remember any problems.

We have a Xerox 700 with a Fiery Command Workstation 5. Try selecting the job you are printing, right clicking on Job Properties _ Color Tab _ Basic Settings _ Under CMYK/Grayscale at the top, the default will be "Full (Output GCR)". Change this to "Full (Source GCR)". Source uses the file settings, which if you export the pdf from InDesign, Illustrator, etc should print correctly.

Use a PDF workflow, save as PDFx-2001. get your customers to do the same. you will find most of the issues go away.
It forces you to use only cmyk plus spot colors, with embedded fonts and flattened. The RIP won't have any issues with
these files.
