Two Interface Cards in one PC

Would it be possible to have 2 interface cards in one PC connected to two different Imagers driven by one RIP? So we have one pc with a Lino interface card and an Agfa APIS interface card and then one Compose HQ softrip installed. Obviously one can not image to both simultanously - but I am thinking to for example image the bigger jobs to the lino, so switch on Lino and rip job with the Lino specs and page setups etc and image, then shut off lino and start agfa accuset and then image the smaller stuff to the Agfa.

Alternatively 2 PCs with 1 interface card each and the HQ rip installed on both and then only swap the dongle around as needed? Would this perhaps then work? How does the HQ RIP "see" the interface card? Through a config file or ppd?

Trying to save some bucks here and breathe some live into old equipment...
