Supremia International, a premiums & promotional packaging specialist, has partnered with Beam Suntory—premium spirits—to create an old-fashioned cocktail kit for Knob Creek whiskey. The eye-catching package incorporates challenging elements to help the brand stand out on crowded shelves. The woodgrain features pay homage to the white oak barrels the whiskey is aged in. In addition to a liquor bottle, the case also contains a muddler, bitters and sugar cubes.

Knob Creek wanted the insert—which held all of the package contents in place—to have a slatted dark woodgrain effect to contrast with the light woodgrain pattern on the trim & handle—relatively easy to achieve on paper, but a stronger substrate was required for this. Supremia worked with thermoforming specialist CMI Plastics to develop a customized, wood-textured thermoform capable of safely holding all components. The result was a case so compelling that it won an award at a recent Thermoforming Conference.

Color Optimized?

by Noel Ward, Editor@Large
Color is in demand in all types of documents, making color management a critical part of Digital Printing 5.0. Managing color on one device/press can be an easy task with the correct tools and processes. But managing color to ensure printed pages are consistent and repeatable across the different substrates and color gamuts of toner and inkjet can be a much bigger challenge. Properly implemented color management workflows can help achieve consistent color results across multiple devices. Although many end-customers are claiming satisfaction with “pleasing color,” two challenges are still in play. Link to Article
