Update rip software?

Can anyone tell me if AE and FLex Rip's current version will handle PDF's and PS from Indesign, Illustrator CS6 differently than Suite7?
Are there significant differences in the rip to handle more recent input files. Basically as design apps evolve does it require that rip software
evolve with it. Would I see a difference between the two?

I would say that they don't have to evolve together. If you are running a pdf work flow, you really only need to concern yourself with the type of pdf file that you export from any of the creative suite apps. I don't run the same system as you, but we haven't upgraded our rip in 3 years, but we are running CS6 and doing just fine with our pdf work flow.
