uv blankets

we have hired a new pressroom manager. after using bottcher blankets that are uv and conventional friendly , he wants us to use uv blankets that are 4 years old rest them... which means he wants us to soak the canvas side of the blankets with a uv solution which will swell the blankets up and then after 14 days we can use them again .. I have seen these blankets go from 0.78 to 0.84 I have seen them grow from side to side that they ride on the bearers ( about 2 mm) and get ground up from the bearer contact.. does any one else use this practice, and if so what bare the pluses and minus of this procedure.... tks kbarz

I would not do this to our blankets. Where did he learn this practice? Using blankets that are 4 years old!! ageing may be ok for Scotch Whiskey but not for an offset blanket. If you want to reuse your blankets give these folks a try.
