We also run a Tec coater. In my humble opinion it is the best machine out there. We've ran several different UV brands. All run great thru this unit. As far as grain direction, we have ran all different thicknesses with the grain in different directions and never had a problem. Cant imagine what the paper grain would have to do with anything other than possible feeding issues with an auto feeder.

We are looking at a UV coater for our digital/offset shop. Came across a Duplo 145 used and then started to investigate a few new models- Count, Kompac and Tec Lighting.
Any thoughts on these machines? Leaning towards the smaller version of the machines for all as our current max sheet size is 13x19.

You'll need a blanket coater to do spot coating. As I recall, they're usually more expensive.
