Xante Answers Questions about Digital Envelope Press

Okay this is not true. Spoke to several dealers and they informed me it will not handle envelopes in any decent quantity and it is not rated to do envelopes.

I know the C9650 will do envelopes without any problems, which is what the Ilumina is based on, now if only you could buy an after market HCF for it, other wise your stuck feeding about 40 at a time.

Hey Scott,
Why shouldnt I just buy one of these from Ikon, which gets it from PSI. Its got alot better feeder, excuse me it actually has a feeder and I can actually get a service tech to look at it and get it on a click base contract (no buying parts or consumables) I looked at their terms and for us, it kicks Xantes butt.

Is the C9650, Xante or printer put out by PSI whendoing envelopes is it a straight feed or does it have to go around rollers? If it goes around rollers doesnt it leave a curl or any wrinkles in the envelopes as it exits after printed?

Printing on both sides

Printing on both sides

good morning.

the shop i'm in just got one of these machines and unfortunately there is not alot of help nor information on printing with it. it is a fairly straightforward printer, but it does not seem to want to duplex the envelopes. anyone have any answers on this? i'm also curious about the pressure showing the embossing through the print. is there a way to adjust the it?

thanks in advance for any info you guys can throw out.

If you are trying to print on the lip of the envelope the best way to do it is by opening the flap and creating a file that will print it. Although it is a manual process the benefit is that the envelope then passes one time through the printer which wears your consumables once as apposed to twice, although ink consumption isn't much higher your drums, transfer belt and fuser do take a second beating increasing your per unit cost and wearing those components. I have done this many many times and it works, the glue does not stick onto the fuser with any of the envelopes i've yet to try so you wont have problems with that.
Also if you have the DEP you can run two types of window envelopes those that have a glassine window or a corn based window, i only know the marketed name of those and their called EarthFirst PLA.

On the Xante, the paper path is short and very straight. You can look throught the manual feed tray, reach around and see your hand at the output tray.

Does anyone know if you can you buy the feeder as a seperate kit?

How is the registration on this machine. I run a Minolta Biz Hub Pro c500 and the registration is horrible on 12pt coated 2 side Card stock is the Ilumina capable of do this type of print with bang on regitration.

Thanks in advance.

By registration, do you mean front to back? It can't duplex anything over 80lb text. But I have found it is fairly consistant on where the image hits the paper so when manually duplexing it does pretty good. I don't have any measurements for you though. But to me, that's not the issue with all these digital machines. I think the problem is image skew. I had a Canon ir3220 and it always printed crooked and even my new Xerox prints a little crooked. But not my Xante. It prints very straight (relative to the paper).

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah I know you can't duplex over 80lbs, I was talking about manually duplexing. So the your Xante is pretty good eh. My Minolta doesn't print crooked unless you stack the paper crooked, but what happens is once you print on one side and if it has a lot of coverage, when you flip it over to print on the next side it is like the rollers start to slip, so it doesn't grab the paper right. My crop marks on each side would be as bad a 1/4 inch off, although it isn't bad for C1S but C2S it is horrible, even when it is only 10 pt cover.

Does any one use a oki data 9600 and is the registration tight on that as well

Anyone used the Thiele RT-100?

Anyone used the Thiele RT-100?

Does anybody have experience with either the Thiele RT-100 streamfeeder or PSI Color Laser Mail 3640? We have seen the PSI 3640 and it will work for our application (high volume postcard printing), but the consumable costs are ridiculous (because PSI has modified the Okidata 3640 printer to require you to buy consumables from them). We found a feeder system from Thiele that looks comparable to the PSI feeder and we can put it together with the same Okida printer ourselves (and be able to buy Okidata consumables at somewhat lower prices). We have not been able to put our hands on the Thiele feeder system, though, and would like to get feedback from anyone has used it.

Does anyone know if you can you buy the feeder as a seperate kit?

This company does Thiele Technologies - Streamfeeder Product Line .

It will attach to an Okidata printer, also at Print09 was a company who makes modified bottom feeders for the Xante press but I don't know the company. I'll have to ask a co-worker.

Was the company you are thinking of Straight Shooter?

and as for richsweeney's question:

There was a solution at print for a stand alone unit. There's a video of it on YouTube:

Hello everyone,

First of all, I will disclose to all of you that I work for Intec–but I have previously worked for Xanté as a product specialist and field engineer for the last 8 years. I have had experience with both the Xanté and PSI envelope units and hope that you will include our new Intec model in your search for the best envelope printer for your needs and budget.

Please check out the Intec product line, we have a number of new product developments being released in the next few months–including a envelope CP2020 model, that can be purchased with or without a RIP option, as one of the many configurations we will offer. Currently our distribution is primarily in the European markets but we will be expanding distribution into the Americas and Asia later this year.

As a sidenote, if you, or anyone you know, are interested in being a distributor of our Intec units, please contact us or send me a message.

Thank you and good luck with your search!
