Xerox 242

Hi Guys

Just after a little advice if possible.

We have just had one of these machines installed. Fantastic quality i have to say.

But what im trying to do is this.

We have an A4 business card cutter, which i have a layout template setup for in photoshop.

No i use the said template which should print dead centre of the page.

With this machine it doesnt print dead centre, so now i cant use my cutter or even print the reverse side for that matter.

Please help

The image shift option on the Fiery driver allows you to move the image up & down, right & left by 0.01mm increments.

i have tried this.

It will let me move in positive numbers, i wanted to move x= -2

It says it has done this so i click print then nothing comes out on the sheet.

So i go back to the fiery settings and it puts it on 352.77 so therefore the page is blank. it will let me go into the + figures but not the - figures

Panic over!

Ive sussed it all out now. I was trying to print straight from pdf or photoshop and alter the image shift within the print driver.

Ive found if i put it into the hold queue within the fiery then alter the properties from there ie the numbers for the image shift then it will work first time and the results are amazing!

Glad to hear you've sorted it!

Just a thought though... would you not be better off running it two up on SRA3 to save on clicks?

Yes thats what were doing as of tomorrow. Our old machine used to be owned outright so didnt matter. But back to the SRA 3 tomorrow.

Does anyone know what thickness the 242 will print both sides without printing first side then the second?

Good to know that you solved the problem.

The heaviest paper I managed to duplex without too much trouble was 200gsm silk coated. The duplex unit is designed in a way that the paper has to do a U-turn to go back to print the other side. All the bits are made of plastic, so if you try to feed through stiff card (like the 330gsm ivory board) it will jam and may cause some damage.
