Xerox 700 Suitable media for Greeting Cards

Could anyone recommend a suitable stock for producing greeting cards with this machine, we want gloss one side and matt on the reverse. Any help would be great.

Jason - I guess that what you're asking is what kind of card you can use that will look like the material used for commercially printed cards: the stuff that has a coated semi gloss one side and a matt uncoated on the other. Technically that's just a one side coated board, but there are specialist "greeting card" products available from your paper merchant. Typically they will have a much higher rigidity than standard coated board (to make the cards stand up properly) and will bulk much higher relative to their basis weight. So, a 240gsm board may have a thickness of 300microns. This does catch people out with digital printers as a 300gsm board may be within "spec" but in fact far too thick and stiff to reliably print on your digital machine. If you are doing a lot of these (rather than one off promotional items), it's worth (IMO) making sure that the paper complies with regulations in your country for toy & food packaging. The best advice is to speak to your paper merchants and see what they recommend, but the above "gotchas" might be of help.

the drawback of hot foiling has always been the dies. I read about this recently and am going to be looking at it closely for our short run hardback case manufacturing:
