Xerox Production Press Inline Finishing Devices

Hello,

We're looking at purchasing a new Xerox production press and are exploring the options of inline finishing devices. Currently, we are debating the function and reliability of the GBC AdvancedPunch which sits directly after the machine in the paper path. I don't think longevity is an issue, but my boss is against including this. I am, for the sake of productivity in favor of purchasing this module. We currently do a lot of spiral bound presentations and we punch most manually, so having an inline option will only decrease production time and allow these projects (which are almost always sent over last minute) to be finished faster. Does anyone have experience with this piece in particular?

Also, we're looking at adding a 2-Knife Trimmer and a SquareFold Trimmer Module, but we're just wondering how well it works since the only piece I got from Print13 produced on the 2-Knife Trimmer was skewed on the bottom edge. I was assured when I asked the reps that this was a defect in only that particular piece, but it got me thinking how reliable this piece was.

Ideally just looking for feedback on either of these items. If you remember the price, that'd be amazing to have too.

If you have any other finishing devices that apply to Xerox production presses, feel free to leave feedback.

Have you talked with a Xerox sales rep? I have not tried the finishing units on any xerox, but before we bought our J75 I had run about 5000 sheets through a demo C75. We tried various jobs, things we have trouble with, etc etc. We have always found Xerox to be very willing to let us use their machines to demo them to really get a feel for how they work.

we've got a 700 with the standard punch and SFT and we use both a lot. we sort of had to choose between the advanced punch and the SQF and i like the choice a lot. when trimming the lading edge, it can take some adjustment to get it just right and on thicker booklets of coated text, it might start to skew a bit. you can usually stop it and start again. but it's fairly slow and the skew is usually within Xerox's specs -- not by our standards but i guess by theirs.

i talked to the tech about the 2KT and he said it takes up a lot of space, but didn't have any practical knowledge -- they hadn't even seen one in the wild yet.
