ZAC processors

Anyone heard of or is using ZAC processors made by GLUNZ & JENSEN in collaboration with Fujifilm?

I would like to know the cons and pros please. What the Fuji marketing people have been telling me is that it is a lot more stable since it constantly checks the developer conductivity in order to adjust the PH of the solution and calculate the replenishing. I also would like to know if this is specifically just for Fuji plates.

Yes, ZAC system is special for Fuji plates. It measures the conductivity of the developer and determines the exact replenishment rate. It saves a lot of developer and the bath lilfe extends up to 8000 sq.m according to some Fuji advertisements. It is very good for FM screening, where you need perfect bath conditions.

anything similar just not propriety? i.e. works for all kinds of plates.

I am not sure for Kodak and Agfa plates If they need another conductivity it will be a problem.

Don't trust advertising much, as it might be possible on less critical work/screens to extend bath past couple of 1000, but in our real life experience, if you don't want to have problems with chemistry, than 2000 should be limit. We do stochastic printing mostly.
Other than that it has been really stable and apart from occasional operator error jam, trouble free.
We had to replace nylon gears on it several times until they finally came up with steel set so we have been good on that side for couple of years now.

Like mentioned above..the ZAC processor is a colaboration between Fuji and Glunz& Jensen...Kodak does have ( sell's ) kit's to rebuild ZAC's to Kodak plates...
My ( personal ) opinion...Buy a G&L processor and put the plates in you like the most...If for some reason you would like to change you plate....your free
to do so...your hardware is in that case no limitation...
